My last day, my first day

Okay, so this is it.  This is my last day at Spectrum Health.  It has been a very interesting journey, and I’ve met people with some very impressive skills who all share a tremendous passion for this hospital.  After four and a half years, my long journey is over.  I’ve gone from a helpless intern to a software license compliance Nazi to an IT procurement geek, and finally to a hackerish but creative and skilled developer.  I am going to miss it. I am going to miss it all — the wonderful people, the cool building where I could write on pretty much every wall and every desk, the vivid summer picnics, the freaky Halloween contents, the roll-on-the-floor-laughing funny and peach-pie-sweet receptionists, the futuristic NOC and data center… everything!  Most of all, however, I am going to miss the leaders in particular who have been my mentors and inspiration: Daniel, Mary, Lloyd, Paul, Mitch and JR.  Quite honestly, I would not have made it this far without them.

I wish things had worked out and that I could have stayed part time while attending school.  It’s probably for the best though, because now I have a chance to start fresh: an opportunity to get the degree I always wanted (engineering), to work on the stuff I really like (robotics), and to accomplish my dreams (own my business and use it to change the world).  So now, it’s all up to me.  Well, it’s all up to me and to wherever God has planned for me.  In the mean time, I am going to enjoy my last day at Spectrum Health, have a great time with my co-workers, and embark on the adventure of a lifetime at Calvin College and in my new business: Infinimight LLC.
