Infinimight.com is up and running!

Last weekend, I finally had the time to build my company website. I was going to use Joomla, but it requires so much work, even for simple things like menus. So instead, and for the first time ever, I created the whole site using WordPress. I have installed simple WordPress sites before, but I never had a chance to dig into the technicalities, plug-in writing, admin tricks, SEO optimization and such — until now. It was fun! I even found a very cool site template called WP-Creativix, added an AddThis button to share in Twitter, Facebook, etc., and added a Follow Us button for my company’s twitter profile (http://twitter.com/infinimight).

After much planning and debating, I went for a somewhat professional yet creative style. I included some hip ads on the front page, including one that Becky, Kristin’s cousin, drew for me. Check it out: Don’t hire code monkeys! Hire the pros! The rest of the site is a balance between professional and artistic colors and text. I included an About Us page where I talk about social responsibility, and a Services page where I talk about my IT offerings, mostly software development. Where I found WordPress plug-ins to be very helpful, however, was with building forms. I was able to create highly-customized Contact Us, Business Proposal, Sales Quotes and Careers forms in no time! With the this template, there is also a way to place blog posts from a specific category on my home page.  Whenever I want to publish content or ads to my home page, I simply categorize them as Front Page, and they show up automagically. I love WordPress! I can finally understand why so many people use it — it’s just so simple, fast, and flexible.

Anyway, that’s all for my web adventure with Infinimight LLC. All I need now is to meet new prospective clients and get more contracts, since I haven’t been getting that many contracts thus far. I’m not too worried though, since I’m just getting started. Oh, last week, I got to go to Saginaw to assist an attorney in a software licensing case. That was fun! Not only did I get out of Grand Rapids for a change, but also just driving down to a place where I’ve never been before was exciting all on itself. I wish all my contracts were out of town…
