Contemplating an Icon

He watches her
He watches the delusion of her face
He admires the splendor of her body
And is drawn into her duple grace
He stares into her alluring eyes
And can’t take his mind away
From the divine gift her lips abide
But all he has to touch
To embrace, to kiss, to scent
Is a crackled picture on his pillow
On the vast emptiness of his bed
In a dark, algid house devoid of her
