Privacy.
This page explains what information this site collects, why, and the choices you have. It is short because the site collects very little.
Who runs this site
This is the personal website of Gabriel Mongefranco, based in Michigan, USA. He is responsible for how the site handles your information. For anything on this page, use the contact form.
What the site collects
Server logs. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records basic technical details for each request, such as your IP address, the page you asked for, and the time. These logs are used to run and protect the service. Cloudflare's own privacy policy describes how it handles them.
Analytics, only if you accept. The site uses Google Analytics to learn which pages people read and roughly where visitors come from. Nothing is measured until you choose Accept in the bar at the top of the page. If you decline, or never answer, no analytics code loads and no analytics cookies are set. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, the site treats that as a decline and does not ask.
The contact form. The contact page embeds a Google Form. When you send a message, Google stores your answers in a form owned by Gabriel and processes them under Google's privacy policy. Your name, reply address, and message are used only to answer you.
Nothing else. The site has no accounts, no comments, and no newsletter. Site search runs in your browser and your search terms are not sent anywhere. Fonts and images are served from this site.
What analytics records
When you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier. They give your browser a random ID so that repeat visits can be told apart from new ones. Google receives the pages you view, the time, the type of device and browser, the approximate region based on your IP address, and the site that referred you. Google truncates IP addresses before storing analytics data. Advertising features are turned off, so this data is not used to show you ads.
Google Analytics keeps this data for no more than 14 months and then deletes it. Google may process it on servers in the United States. Google describes the safeguards it uses for such transfers in its privacy policy and its Analytics data practices.
Why this data is used
Analytics is used, with your consent, to understand what is useful on this site. Server logs are used to keep the site running and secure, which is a legitimate interest of any site owner. Contact form messages are used because you asked for a reply.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, these are the legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): consent for analytics, legitimate interest for server logs, and your request for contact messages.
Your choices and rights
You can accept or decline analytics at any time; see the button below. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Declining changes nothing about how the site works for you.
Under the GDPR and similar laws you may ask what information is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to its use, or withdraw consent. To do so, use the contact form. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country. Google Analytics data is held under a random identifier, so Gabriel cannot link it to you by name; if you want it deleted, clearing your browser's cookies for this site ends the link to past visits.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and does not knowingly collect information about them.
